V4 Pro keeps one clear lead: Humanity's Last Exam without tools, the closest thing here to raw knowledge, where it scores 42.7 to 36.8. Give V4.1 Flash its tools and it passes Pro on the same exam. Everything agent-shaped (terminal work, whole-repository coding, multi-step tasks) goes to the Flash model.
Is V4 Pro going away?
DeepSeek's 10 September announcement said it was phasing V4 Pro out and would send its requests to V4.1 Flash from 14 September until a V4.1 Pro arrives. Its changelog then reversed that: DeepSeek "decided to continue providing API services for DeepSeek V4 Pro after September 14, 2026", with billing unchanged. As of 18 October 2026 both are on DeepSeek's API.
